What is PTSG

What is PTSG?

PTSG is your local parent / teacher collaborative organization. We consider everyone in the community a member of PTSG. There are no forms or fees to be a member. The goal of PTSG is for parents, teachers, school staff, and community members to work together in support of the children in our schools. We know that working together creates a more successful school experience for everyone.

We would like to invite everyone to become a more active member of PTSG. We meet on the first Thursday of every month at 3:45 pm in the Webster Elementary Library to discuss upcoming events, share ideas, organize projects, and decide how available funds will be spent.

PTSG Bylaws (updated Apr 2012)

Welcome to the Marshfield PTSG!

As a member of the Marshfield community you are already a part of the Parent Teacher Support Group. So what is the PTSG? The PTSG was created in the same spirit as a PTA or PTO organization with a few fundamental differences. We are self governing, which means that all funds collected through donations and various fundraisers during the school year are completely returned to the schools. There are no annual dues collected or submitted to a parent organization. All of the officers and committee members are parents, teachers, and staff members of the Marshfield School District. Our monthly business meetings are open to anyone in the community that has an interest in improving and assisting the schools in our district.

By now, you are wondering, "how do I get involved?" At the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year PTSG chose to organize all of the dedicated volunteers under a program called CHAMPS. CHAMPS stands for Community Helpers Assisting Marshfield Public Schools.  Each building in the district has a coordinator who will enlist and schedule volunteers to work with students on an individual or small group basis. Some volunteers will also be scheduled in each of the school's workrooms to relieve teachers of their non-teaching duties such as making copies, bulletin boards, etc. PTSG also has a homeroom coordinator who enlists and organizes a Homeroom Parents Team for each classroom in Pre-K - 5th grade. These parents will coordinate a fall and spring classroom party, help with special events, volunteer in the classroom, and coordinate teacher appreciations in May.

The two biggest events that the PTSG put together during the school year are Breakfast with Santa and Carnival. Both are amazing community events! We always welcome volunteers to help make these activities more successful.

Spirit Wear lets you show your support for Marshfield schools in style. The committee meets twice a year to choose the "in" styles for the upcoming season.

Another PTSG sponsored fundraiser is Food Fair. It pleases our pallets each year when Summer Fresh invites the community to sample vendor favorite products on Super Bowl Weekend.

Well, there you have it! You're already a member of PTSG. We are proud of the many activities and programs that we bring to our community. As Marshfield grows we are grateful to every one of our volunteers. Please bring your fresh ideas to our next business meeting. They are held on the first Thursday of each month at the Webster Elementary Library @ 6:30 p.m. Child care is provided. Or contact one of the officers from the contact page to see how you can get involved!
